Art Classes for Mental Wellbeing
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its main mode of expression and communication.
At Sreepur we do not have an art therapist but we do have a resident artist, Milon, who often teaches therapeutic art in his classes as the majority of children that come to live at Sreepur have witnessed or been part of a traumatic experience.

For 32 years, The Sreepur Village has made sure that poverty doesn’t tear a child from his or her mother and in doing so continues to provide more destitute mothers and their children with a secure home and a number of life-saving skills that will bring them hope for a brighter futur

Since lockdown was announced, our mothers have been busy hand-making Christmas decorations made out of bamboo strips, carved from the trees naturally grown in the heart of The Sreepur Village, the place they now call home and where they get to learn a number of new vocational skills that will empower their families with a future of hope and independence.

New Families, New Hope
Until Monday, we were unable to admit any new families to The Sreepur Village, but as identified cases of the virus are increasing daily, we are now able to safely admit some impoverished families who are in desperate need of shelter, food and care.

The Sreepur Village - 30 Remarkable Years (1989-2019)
The Sreepur Village, Shishu Polli Plus, was established at Sreepur in 1989 on a 15-acre site and has over the last 30 years, successfully re-integrated 897 mothers and 3043 children back into the community. The charity still strongly believes that poverty should not separate mothers from their children and in doing so continues to empower vulnerable women so that more families can gain a better quality of life for the future.

International Day of Charity
Why pick The Sreepur Village as your chosen charity?
September 5 was International Day of Charity, and The Sreepur Village marked the day by asking one of its newest supporters why she supported The Sreepur Village. Sandra has, in the past, supported a number of charities like Breast Cancer, The Red Cross and Children in Need. She told us that, smaller charities like The Sreepur Village often get overseen. Sandra was particularly taken with a story she had read on Facebook which highlighted the importance of swimming lessons for children as the number of deaths from drowning in Bangladesh is staggering and she also told us that she was amazed that we were the only charity in Bangladesh to keep mothers with their children.
