Nine year old Fahad was suffering from poor vision, headaches as well as many other problems in his eyes. After Fahad and his mother arrived to live in the Sreepur Village and under the supervision of a clinic team, Fahad was able to receive treatment to cure his visual impairment.

This year's slogan is #HealthForAll but in rural Bangladesh health care services are scarce and 90% of the mothers that come to The Sreepur Village are from these areas, and because of their financial circumstances, they cannot afford food let alone health care.
World Oral Health Day
As most of the mothers and children that come to the village are from rural areas, using a toothbrush isn't heard of. So, on that basis, we provide every one of our 600 beneficiaries with a toothbrush and equip them with the knowledge required to keep their oral hygiene healthy.

Ignorance and wrong beliefs surrounding disability, compounded with a negative and derogatory attitude of the community (including family members) have contributed to the marginal development in the disability sector in Bangladesh.

Why pick The Sreepur Village as your chosen charity?
September 5 was International Day of Charity, and The Sreepur Village marked the day by asking one of its newest supporters why she supported The Sreepur Village. Sandra has, in the past, supported a number of charities like Breast Cancer, The Red Cross and Children in Need. She told us that, smaller charities like The Sreepur Village often get overseen. Sandra was particularly taken with a story she had read on Facebook which highlighted the importance of swimming lessons for children as the number of deaths from drowning in Bangladesh is staggering and she also told us that she was amazed that we were the only charity in Bangladesh to keep mothers with their children.
World Health Day
The theme of this year’s World Health Day is “Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere” and here in The Sreepur Village we make sure that the 200 mothers and over 500 children, in our care, are entitled to quality health services. Our mothers join us from different remote areas of the country, they are from poverty-stricken families and more than often have not been able to obtain the minimum health facilities which, in turn, affects the health of the entire family.
Rare Disease Day
As today is Rare Disease Day we would like to share with you the story of Surzo (meaning sun in English), a boy whose left leg was infected by a rare bone infection called Osteomyelitis.
Surzo, whose real name is in fact Nahid, was only 12 years old when he fell from a high brick stake whilst playing with friends. After 3-4 days he got a very high fever and became unconscious. Immediately, Surzo was taken to The Sreepur Village Health Clinic but due to his high fever and unconsciousness and the concerns of The Sreepur Clinic, he was taken to a nearby NGO clinic named Public Health Centre (well known as Gonosyastho Kendra (GK). The GK clinic also failed to identify the reasons for Surzo's condition. After thorough consultation between The Sreepur Village and the GK Clinic staff, Surzo was immediately sent to a government hospital in Dhaka accompanied by one of The Sreepur Clinic’s trained nurses.
The Sreepur Village Clinic
The Sreepur Village Clinic plays a vital role in each and every beneficiary’s health. The clinic, open 24/7, works hard in assessing and treating the many health problems that arise. Mothers and children, upon admission to the village, go to the clinic for routine health checks and whether their symptoms are minor or major the care, that the clinic delivers, is second-to-none.
