As Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year) approaches this weekend preparations are well under way at The Sreepur Village. It is here once more, that charming time of the year when the age-old Bengali spirit of festivity is renewed to welcome the Bengali New Year. Pohela Boishakh is practically around the corner and there are arrangements a plenty to praise this celebration.
My Trip to Bangladesh, by Emma our UK Fundraiser
I oversee fundraising in the UK for The Sreepur Village so before my trip I was feeling fairly confident of what to expect and see in the heart of Bangladesh or so I thought I did. What I didn’t expect to see was over 700 smiling faces, children content to play with just a leaf and mothers willing to do the smallest of jobs so that they could have the biggest results, like feed their families.
Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week
As this week is Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week we wanted to share with you the story of one of our beneficiaries. By raising awareness, we hope that more people will be able to help put an end to such brutalities.
Presently, at The Sreepur Village, 60% of the mothers have faced some form of sexual abuse or violence in their lifetime. We would like to share with you the story of Sathi who is unmarried and an under-aged mother of The Sreepur Village
Adoption Awareness Month
November is being observed as adoption awareness month. The purpose is to raise awareness and to put the limelight on adoption as a means of building families for children. Throughout the world, every child deserves to be part of a family, however, this is not always the case. This month will not only be raising awareness, but it will also be focusing on the ways adoption touches our lives and how we can make a better life for every child.

World Mental Health Day, a day for global mental health, knowledge and advocacy was, last week, noted worldwide but really it is something that we should be recognising every single day.
