Support to Rohingya

October 30, 2017

Earlier this month, you may have read about The Sreepur Village’s trip to the Southern part of Bangladesh which saw them offering the Rohingya people their support and aid. Led by Pat, the Sreepur team visited the camps armed with baby formula and helped distribute it to the most vulnerable babies.

As this is such a large-scale humanitarian crisis, Pat asked the army officer in charge of Kutupalang camp (one of the largest camps) how else could The Sreepur Village help. The officer expressed his concerns about the personal hygiene of the female refugees. He informed us that they needed sanitary products and nappies for the babies. So we talked to BRAC who were doing a survey about female hygiene and we also met with the doctors of MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) and talked to the Rohingya women.

After returning from the visit, we concluded that very quickly and as simply as possible, and with the help of Pichieh (one of our well-wishers), we would produce 4500 pieces of sanitary products and over 1500 nappies, and for the last two weeks, the women and children of The Sreepur Village have been working extremely hard to help produce these necessities.

We are also in the process of making winter hoodies for babies one year and younger, and in the middle of November we will go again to the camps to distribute them.
