Celebrating our 1,000 mother to join Sreepur!

October 20, 2017

For the last 28 years, The Sreepur Village has been working hard to help destitute single mothers and their children, aiding their development in every aspect of life so that they can live confidently and independently in an economically self-reliant society. Following this path, we recently had the opportunity to rehabilitate our 1,000 mother, Rakhi.

Rakhi comes from the country’s largest brothel Village, Doulatdia, also the largest in Asia. For the last year, we have been trying to help the mothers of this village and now we have started the rehabilitation process for four mothers from there, and already they have joined classes focusing on income generated training and literacy.

Earlier this year we signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding = CSR) with MMS (Mukti Manobadhikar Songstha), an NGO working for the improvement of brothel mothers and children, and just last week Rakhi arrived at The Sreepur Village. After taking some time to adjust she spent some days at our clinic and then we admitted her and proudly gave her the file no-1000. Rakhi joins the Sreepur family with her one-year-old girl Susmita. Over the next few months we will be following Rakhi’s progress and will be delighted to share this with you.
