Welcome to Sreepur Village, Bangladesh, known locally as Shishu Polli Plus
Since 1989, Sreepur Village, known in Bangladesh as Shishu Polli Plus, has been providing refuge for single mothers and their children facing extreme poverty in Bangladesh. Our purpose-built village provides a safe space for approximately 540 people at any one time, keeping 140 families together whilst breaking cycles of deprivation that span generations. We work in the best interests of marginalised and destitute mothers and their children, enabling them to reimagine their futures.
We welcomed 55 mothers and 93 children and provided them with a safe place and the support they needed to rebuild their lives together.
We made sure every family received 3 healthy, nutritious meals each day, giving them the proper food and nutrition they needed to stay strong
We helped 226 children get back into school, providing them with support, school supplies, and everything they needed to and succeed.
We taught 140 mothers important skills through classes covering reading and writing, managing money and other essential life skills.
We taught 48 children life-saving water safety skills, including how to swim and tread water, helping keep them safe around water
We helped 79 mothers start businesses and find work to earn money for their families, giving them skills to become financially independent
We helped 62 mothers and 131 children settle into their local communities, giving them support to rebuild their lives safely.
We ensured 75 children kept going to school even after their mothers moved back to their communities, enabling continued education
