Sport is very important in Bangladesh, with cricket as the national passion. There are always groups of boys, big and small, playing cricket or football after school. Our physiotherapist Monika encourages the girls to play netball regularly, but sports for women is a new idea so Monika is meeting some resistance. The British Cricket Team visited Sreepur in 2003 and played against the boys, with cows and goats grazing in the outfield!
